AB - The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, July 23, 2003 For many children and senlors.... ~ Bustness REVIEW — MBA degree mulled UNBC may establish a Master of Business Ad- ministration program. ‘The: northern university is conducting a survey to gauge demand for the pro- posed program. If there’s significant demand in Ter- race, said UNBC resear- cher ‘Kim’ Knutsson, the university may explore ways to offer the program or elements of it through distance education. “They're figuring the typical MBA student is somebody already working and will want to do this outside of their work hours,” she said. - An MBA is a key quali- fication for top manage- ment: jobs. The program would extend UNBC’s ex- isting 500-student Bache- lor of Commerce degree and cover finance, market- ing, accounting, human re- sources and leadership. “There are issues in the north that other: schools might not address as dir- ectly," Knutsson added. *We're a highly unionized province. We have a lot of transportation and logisti- cal issues. The resource base of course. “Those types of issues might be very pertinent to an MBA program up here.” The survey, which is running from July 25 to Aug. 8; can be completed a ; t www. surveypro.com/akira ‘TakeSurvey?id=12928. Glenn Kelly, Diane Francis, Ian Black and Nina’ Peden all start two- year terms. They join re- turning or existing direc- tors: Dave Martin, Lael McKeown, Kevin Kenne- dy, Clarence Nyce, Mike Lefebvre and Charlie Graydon. The president is Sheila Love, a position she held last year. She agreed to stay on because Dave Martin, who was to be pre- sident; instead needs to spend more time devoted to anew job. Kevin Jeffery becomes first’ vice president, Bert Husband second vice pre- sident and Terri McPhee treasurer. Because there is no new president making Love the past president, Betty Barton stays on in that position. ae a Northwest Smile Design Center Dy. B.A. Oxi a.
