i PAGE 8, THE HERALD, Friday, May 26, 1978 Wife of double agent says | CIA is lying WASHINGTON (AP) — The wife of a U.S. double agent last seen three years ago thinks the CLA may have forfeited her husband's life to boost the career of another Soviet spy secretly working for the United States. - Nicholas Shadrin was last seen on a winter night in Vienna stepping into a car with two agents of the KGB, the Soviet secret police. The United States cays it doesn't know what happened to Shadrin. But his wife, Eva, says the CIA already has lied about how it convinced her husband to become a double agent. And, she says, agents may be lying about what happened to him . So she wants Senator Birch Bayh (Dem. Ind,), chairman of the Senate intelligence committee, to investigate new information about the disappearance, And she has asked President Carter for a meeting.
