A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of The City
of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall,
2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, March 16th, 1992, at
7330 PeM.

Mayor L.M. Traboulay and Aldermen M.D. Gates, M.J. Gordon, J.J. Keryluk,
RoH. Talbot, M.A. Thompson and M.R. Wright were in attendance.

Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, City Clerk/Deputy
Administrator R.A. Freeman, City Engineer I. JZahynacz, and Director of
Planning C.R. Felip.

Alderman J.J. Keryluk, as Acting Mayor in the absence of Mayor Traboulay,
called the meeting to order.

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

Moved by Alderman Thompson:
Seconded by Alderman Gates;

That the minutes of the Regular Council meeting held on March 9th, 1992
and Special Meeting of March 11th, 1992 be taken as read and adopted.

Carried.
PROCLAMATION:

Whereas. The Municipality of Port Coquitlam is committed to the belief that
equal opportunity and treatment should exist for all people; .

WHEREAS Every resident of Port Coquitlam has the right to realize his or her
potential, regardless of race, colour, national or ethnic origin, and live at
all times in conditions of dignity, respect and peace; |

WHEREAS The General Assembly of the United Naticns has designated March 21 as
the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination;

AND WHEREAS The elirination of racism and racial discrimination can be
accomplished through understanding and respect for the dignity of all people,
and is the social and moral responsibility of each person;

DELEGATION:

Acting Mayor J.J. Keryluk introduced Bob Tarling, Trustee and Sydney
Tomchenko, Director of Public Relations, Saint Mary's Hospital who addressed:
Council regarding the Role of Saint Mary's Hospital and ran a short video
which highlighted this information.

“His Worship Acting Mayor J.J. Keryluk introduced Karen LaGrange of Mary
Hill Junior Secondary School who addressed Council protesting the changing of
the speed limit on Mary Hill Road from 50 km/h to 60 km/h and presented
Council with a 179 name petition. | |
