THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM COUNCIL - JUN 14 1982 MEMORANDUM TO: B. Kirk, - June. 10, 1982 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters., P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Paving of Lane off Gately Street - Public Works Committee, June 8th, 1982 - RECOMMENDATION: That the City agree to pay one-third of the cost of paving the lane off Gately Street serving as access to the -Ticehurst home and duplex and that the approximate cost of 3500.00 be taken from the unallocated funds in the Public Works budget. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: The lane at. the south end of Gately Street serves as the only access for Mr. Ticehurst's home and a duplex. As both of these buildings are relatively new and in excellent Shape, the access. via a dusty lane is not very attractive. Mr. Ticehurst has offered to pay two-thirds of the cost of paving the lane if the City will pay the other one-third. It is not normally our policy to spend money on paving lanes but we do spend a fair amount of money maintaining lanes that are not paved and in this case the outlay of approximately $500.00 for the City seems well worthwhile in view of the maintenance that will be saved later on. MThe other consideration is that the lane is at the end of the section of Gately Street which will be paved and widened by the G.V.H.C. project and may therefore be subject to increased traffic due to vehicles turning around on the lane. b F.E.
