February 2nd, 1976 Alderman Traboulay inquired whether there would be enough books to stock the City's new facility this year, and Mr. Overend stated there would be; however, the City should not expect to receive 28,000 new books the day after the facility opens, Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That the 1976 Operating Budget of the Fraser Valley Region:1 Library setting forth the City's assessment for membership therein amounting to $86,182.00, be accepted. . Carried. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam go on record as being in total disagreement with the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board making any arrangements with Richmond in regard to its library operation, and that the books in Richmond's libraries belonging to the FVRL be returned to the Board immediately. Carried. Alderman Keryluk voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing proposed resolution, Alderman Traboulay pointed out that even if the 50,000 books are returned, the City has no facility to house an additional supply at this time; however, Alderman . Laking commented that the books could be distributed throughout the entire we FVRL system. Mayor Campbell stated he would much prefer to have the cut-off with Richmond on March Ist, 1976. Alderman Keryluk commented there is no way the Library Development Commission would leave the people of Richmond without any books and, similarly, the Fraser Valley Regional Library system has to contend with the Commission. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the City of Port Coquitlam accept its share of the capital of a new Rugional Library Headquarters in the amount of $7,790.00. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing proposed resolution, Alderman Keryluk pointed out that if the new Headquarters building is proceeded with this year Richmond's share would be paid into the capital cost by the Library Develop- ment Commission. Mayor Campbell ccsmenuted that if the City 1s going to con- tinue membership in the System, the cost of the Headquarters building is not unreasonable.
