MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and Aldermen ; April 3, 1975 FROM: Alderman L.M. Traboulay 5 Re: Mosquito Control Board Meeting of April 2, 1975. I attended the above meeting held in the old Sumas Municipal Hall in Abbotsford -on April 2, 1975. At its last meeting tenders were called for managing of the Mosquito Programme for 1975 to include ground and aerial control of mosquitoes within the contract area including supplying and spraying a minimum of 5,000 gallons. Three (3) Tenders were received: l. Heppman Co. Ltd. $35,000. 2. Fossen Air 46,950. 3. Beak Consultants & Con-Air 21,450. The Board chose the Beak Consultants. The. manager of this firm is Mr. Stewart Craig who has been in charge of the mosquito control programme in former years. 2. It should be noted that ground control and spotting still remains the responsiblity of each member municipality. 3. The Board was informed by Mr. Craig that adulticizing by aerial spray no longer requires a cabinet order. Permission to spray is now obtained from a Dr. Costello (Government Employee) who uses the bite count method to arrive at the decision to aerial spray or not. 4. There are $10,000. standing at credit at dissolution of the old Fraser Valley Mosquito Board. Each municipality will be informed how much of this sum will be credited to its 1975 operation. 5. (a) The fixed costs of the programme will be shared equally by the 4 Regional Districts. (b) The variable costs will be charged by gallonage. 6. Alderman J.J. Keryluk of Port Coquitlam was elected to the lofty position of Vice-Chairman of the Board for 1975. EE ara eater
