Coach Dave O’Brien says Roseanne Blackburn, Tanya Middleton, Francis Genereaux and Ajit Jaswal al] took top spot in their weight classes. Eight Terrace wrestlers finished in second spot, and two came home with third place finishes. “They did quite well,” says O’Brien. ‘‘There was big layoff between their last meet in December and this one, but they did perform well, particularly the girls.”’ The girls finished first overall in the three team meet; the guys took second. He says about half a dozen girls have committed them- selves to the sport this sea- son, but only one is a veteran from last year. ‘Last year was the firsi year girls were involved in wrestling,’ O’Brien says. “They approached me and asked me to coach them, but once they hit grade 11 they seem to lose interest.”? Most of the team mem- bers, both girls and guys, are in grades eight and nine. The youngest competilor though is in grade six, and the oldest is in grade 12. Most of the kids are from Skeena Jr., but O’Brien says two are from Caledonia, and one is in elementary school.
