May 3rd, 1976 Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the foregoing resolution approving Application R#3-75 to rezone property bounded by Langan, Brown, Warwick, and Taylor from RS-2 (One~Family Suburban Residential) to RS-1 (One-Family Residential) be deferred for one week and referred to the Approving Officer for review. Aiderman Laking voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Aldarman Laking, speaking in opposition rhereto, stated his view that the application could be approved subject to planning being submitted that is acceptable to the Council. Alderman Ranger requested information be made available on the future plans for Taylor Street and Alderman Traboulay suggested that the guidelines for Public Information Meetings should be reviewed. From the Building & Protection Committee, April 30th, 1976, advising that the following alternatives were considered for the disposition of PoCo House: Advertising the House for sale to be moved to another location; Offering the House for rental as a Day Care Centre; Offering the House for rental as a private dwelling place, and recommending that the third alternative be pursued until such time as the land is required for other public purposes. Alderman Traboulay stated he had received a letter from Mrs. L. Elliott, 1618 Western Drive, on behalf of the PoCo Happy Times Pre- School, in regard to using the facility, and that she was in attendance this evening to speak to the Council thereon. Mrs. Elliort stated that PoCo House was in an ideal location for the pre-school, as it is easily accessible to the Recreation Centre and Central School, where some of the pre-school programwes are conducted; however, she expressed ‘concern at the suggested rental rate of $300.00, as the pre-school does not receive any Government or other subsidies. Mrs. Elliott commented it may be possible to sub-let a portion of the facility to a pre-school teacher as a meatis of reducing the rent to the pre-school. Alderman Traboulay suggested that the matter be referred back to the Committee for a recommendation as to use of the facility for a pre-school; however, Mayor Campbell proposed that the facility be offered for rent to the PoCo Happy Times Pre-School at the rate of $300.00 per month with two weeks to pick up the option.
