TO: Mayor and Aldermen October 16th, 1974 FROM: Alderman J.J. Keryluk C 0 The Bonham Internal Drainage Report i C Subject: for the City cf Port Coquitlam OCT 21 1974 I find the Report generally,-to be detailed and well done. In my judgment, however, I find some sections that, although correct from an engineering point of view; are either inadequate for the need that exists or are just not accept- able to the citizens. Areas of Concern 1. Prairie Road pumping station: - The existing pump, taking care of drainage from this area, is located at ‘the foot of Dominion Avenue and is of a 67 cfs capacity. It is presently in good working order but experience shows that it is quite inadequate and the Report substantiates this. - - Due to the separation of the present Dominion Avenué drainage area into two areas, i.e. i) Dominion Avenue and ii) Praixie Avenue - the proposed pumping capacity would be two 40 cfs units on Dominion plus a single 40 cfs unit on Prairie, for a total of 120 cfs. This is less than twice the existing capacity of 67 cfs. and is; in my opinion, inadequate. This sector must be looked at again in-light of the fact that at a critical time dv_ing the freshet and high tide on the Pitt, the flood boxes would be closed not only along the Pitt and the DeBoville Slough, but also in the new installation in Cedar Ditch causing a diversion fron Cedar Ditch by way of a new 48-inch storm sewer under Lincoln Avenue then by way of a ditch down to the foot of Prairie to make excessive demands on the single 40 cfs pump there. Recommendation: An additional 40 crs pump on Prairie Road. oeee-cont'd. Page ~- 2 ~
