THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT LOQUITLAM !

BYLAW NO. 2247

A Bylaw To provide for the payment of an indemnity to the
Mayor and Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port
Coquitlam,

WHEREAS under and by virtue of section 267 of the "Municipal! Act" being
Chapter 290 of the Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1979, the Counc] |
may by bylaw provide for paying out of the annual revenue an indemnity to
the Mayor and Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitiam, and
may provide that a portion of the said indemnity to be paid to the Maver and
Aldermen snall be paid as an allowance for expenses incidental to the
discharge of the duties of their respective offices;

NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of
Port Coquitlam, in Open meeting assembled, enacts as foltlows:

1. Uuring the period extending from the First Monday after the First dav
of December, 1986 to the First Monday after the First day of Lecember, 1987,
There shall be paid to the Mayor of The Corporation of the City of Port
Coquitlam an indemnity of $30,276.00 per annum of which said indemnity the
Sum of $10,092.00 shail be paid as an allowance for expenses incidental to
The discharge of the duties of his office,

2. During the period extending from the First Mondav after the First day
of December, 1986 to the First Monday after the First day of December, 1987,
There shall be paid to each of the Aldermen of The Corporation of tne City
Of Port Coquitiam an indemnity of $9,264.00 per annum of which said
indemnity the sum of $3,088.00 shal! be paid as an allowance for expenses
incidental to the discharge of the duties of the office of Alderman.

3. The indemnity provided for in Sections 1 and 2 hereof shail be paid by
the City Treasurer in twelve equal monthly instal iments during the months of
December, 1986 Through November 1987, inclusive, to the person or persons
entitled to receive the same without further order or resolution of tne
Council save and except as provided in Section 5 of this Bylaw,

4, After the expiry of the time specified in Sections 1 and 2 hereof the
Treasurer shal! continue to pay The same equal monthiv instaliments to the
person or persons entitled to receive the same as was being paid under the
authority of Sections 1 and 2 hereof untj | the Councii sha!l orherwise
provide; and, upon such provision being made the amount or amounts paid
shal! be adjusted accordingly.

5. In the event any member of Counci! is absent tor more tnan three.
consecutive regular Council meetings the indemnity that would otherwise be
due that member shall not be paid to that member. The provisions of this
Section may be waived by unanimous vote of the remaining members of Council,

6. This Bylaw may be cited for al| Purposes as the "Counci! Indemnity
Bylaw, 1987, No. 2247",
