+ — : THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C 0 U N C | L . MEMORANDUM JUL 25 1983 TO: B. Kirk, July 21, 1983 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters., P, Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: No Parking in Lane Behind RPewland Lacrosse Box - Public Works Committee, July 19th, 1983 RECOMMENDATION: . That "No Parking At Any Time" signs be placed on the west side of the tane just east of Mary Hill Road between Atkins Avenue and the lacrosse box and that the Parks and Rec Committee consider re-opening the gates on the north side of the, lacrosse box. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Complaints have been received by the Parks and Rec Committee about parking and abusive behaviour In the lane behind the tacrosse box. The Parks and Rec Committee requested that ‘the Public Werks Committee consider Signing the lane tor no parking. lane it Ts apparent that parking in the lane wil} not solve the problem Of the residents. The lane fs part of a much wider parking area which includes private parking for the residents of the apartment block, The east side of the lane is nat defined, The main probtem sppears to be that the only entrance to. the lacrosse box is now on the south side. The people using. the lacrosse pox therefore park on the south side because it is more convenient. In taiking with some of the residents it Is apparent that they would tike to see the entrance on the north side of the box re-opened. The Committee recommends that we try eliminating the parking on the west side of the lane against the fence to see whether this will help to organize the Parking in the back, However, it is not possible for the City to do anything abour cars which park in the private spaces of the residents so the alternative of re-opening the gates on the north side should be considered.
