KINSMEN CLUB OF PORT COQUITLAM JAN 11 1982 THE ASSOCIATION OF KINSMEN CLUBS DISTRICT FIVE LOWER MAINLAND ZONE P.O. BOX 111 PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. V3C_ 3V5 December, 1981. Mayor and Council, City of Port Coquitlam, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. V3C 2A8 RE:__ Port Coquitlam Proposal: Kinsmen Community Building For some time now the Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam has had the ambition to construct a Community Service Building. Those members who served on Council last year will recall our proposal was passec (see attached copy dated March 31st, 1980), but had to be shelved as a result of the Provincial Grant being turned down. Fortunately our Club has not given up. A while back another committee was formed and utilizing past committee's work put together a plan that is not only feasible but both beneficial and worthwhile to the community. On December 10th, 1981 this plan was put forward to our Club for approval and we. are proud to say was passed unanimously. Qur reasons for this project are as follows:- 1) Much needed pre-school and day-care facilities will be available ‘at minimal costs. This will aid teachers, mothers and most of all the children. (Attached requests.) 2) Youth groups will have a clean, modern hall in which to hold their functions. This safer environment will help ease the concerns of parents and leaders alike. (Attached requests. ) Sports organizations will now be able to hold fund raising projects on non-commercial property; adding to their profits and assisting them in their goals.
