Alderman Traboulay asked that a representative from the Urban - Transit Authority be invited to address Council regarding the proposed transit system. Mayor Laking advised he is looking into this. Alderman Muldoon advised three residents of Port Coquitlam have been selected to participate in the National Summer Olympic Games for. the Handicapped and suggested that the City give a $200.00 to $300.00 grant to help with their expenses. Moved hy Alderman Muldoon: That the City of Port Coquitlam give a grant of $200.00 to $300 .00 to help with the expenses of sending three participants to the National Summer Olympics for the Handicapped. Lost for want’ of a seconder. Mayor Laking stated it is a policy of Council not to give grants. Alderman Mabbett displayed the trophy won by the Port Coquitlam May Day Queen and her princesses for their entry in the Pitt Meadows Days Parade. Alderman Mabbett expressed concern regarding a vagrant living in Lions Parks, and of vandalism in the George Pearkes Lacrosse Box and in Thompson Park, and asked that the R.C.M.P. be advised of these problems. Mayor Laking advised a box will be placed in the City Hall during the Postal Strike for cards to the Fox Family.
