Department Alderman Traboulay referred to Item No. 1 under the "Remarks" section of the report, noting that a local firm had been charged under Sec.4-B of By-law 902 for a second offence of burning rubber tires and fined $75.00. and he expressed the thought that legislation should be brought in empowering municipalities to have the owners or principal officers of firms incarcerated for second offences. From the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, July/74 re- port-SPCA July 31st, 1974, being the July, 1974 Service Report of the Pound Operation. Ald- erman Traboulay commented there have been very few complaints on pet problems; how- ever, Alderman Mabbett advised he had had two calls from one of the large strata title areas and in one instance the complainant had informed him that one of the residents had three dogs. At the request of Alderman Mabbett, Alderman Traboulay agreed to look into the number of dogs that should be allowed in this type of complex. CORRESPONDENCE & PETITIONS: From the Port Coquitlam Senior Citizens Housing Society, August 16th, 1974, Sr.Cit.re tax exempt, requesting that Hawthorne Lodge be exempted from taxes on property, it being Hawthorne fully understood that such concession be in effect only so long as the Pert wouse Coquitlam Senior Citizens Housing Society holds title to the property. Alderman Traboulay Suggested that before a decision is made on the request of the Society, all operating facts and figures should be obtained. Alderman Mabbett stated he had talked with Mr. G.R.A. MacDonald, President of the Society, about 10 days ago, and was informed it was intended to hold a meeting early in September to discuss the problem of the Government not taking over the Lodge as promised earlier this year.
