According - to policy advisor Dr. Rick. Wilson, the group is willing to hear virtually any concem on development and the environment. "We want to hear any issue of | concern to the community," Wilson said. "Any economic development issue." As examples he, noted matters like water supply and sewage treatment, concerns about jobs and environmental impact, conflict resolution, and nearly anything else to do with the. envi- ronmental, social and economic effects of development on our future. Wilson said material gathered by the Round Table will be used to put together a sustainable develop- ment strategy for the province. He expects a report summarizing submissions from the public ‘to be finished by the end of this month. That should identify the major issues, he said. A draft of the strategy should be ready by fall, when it will be published for com- ment from the general public, then revised and submitted to Cabinet. The Terrace session will consist of an open house held from 2 to 5 p.m. in the afternoon at the Ter- race Inn and a formal presentation period: in the evening. The open house will give people.a chance to’ examine Round Table literature _and speak. to. the. members. infor- mally, The evening. section will allow 10 minutes for each formal presentation, ‘followed by an opportunity for ‘questions and answers from the panel. There will be an hour at the end of the formal session for open discussion. There are a. total of 31 members in the Round Table group. Five of them will be in Terrace: Graham - Lea, former Rupert and secretary treasurer. of the Truck Loggers Association; Dr. MLA for Prince . Patrick Moore, Greenpeace anda fish farmer; Stan’ Dixon, a former , Sechelt - Indian *:Band chief; ‘Jim Lorie, marine - manager. and secretary. for ‘Walcan Seafood; and Vicky Husband, conservation chair of the Sierra Club of of Western Canada. Log yard rezoning to go to public hearing Skeena Sawmills is one step closer to having their own log storage area. City council agreed Monday night to continue negotiat- ing a road closure agreement and hold a public hearing on a rezoning application. The company currently stores logs on the opposite side of the highway on leased land but recent- ly filed a rezoning application for land located immediately west of the mill that they either own or have an option to purchase.
