For ‘the third year ron- ~ ning, Bulkley Valley, Players’ Jenn Feenan was awarded the honour of best actress, this time for her outstanding performance as Helen, Charlie’s widow. Of Keeping Charlie Company, adjudicator Ted Price encouraged the cast "to find the discoveries in this plot." Keeping Charlie Company was written by playwright John Toland in 1980, Price noted, “It’s not an easy script. There are parts of it that don’t work. This cast gave us a very intelligent rendition and a well-prepared presentation. I got'a ‘lot from this production. It could go further." Price described the play as "about ‘survival under adversity. The playwright takes a stand against the culture of the jungle philosophy." Keeping Charlie Company was also selected by -the adjudicator to participate in the provincial Mainstage festival as a workshop play. Each produc- tion gives an initial public performance, is re-worked -by a professional workshop director and performed publicly again in its revised form in the fascinating and instructional "before and after” process.
