V3C 2A8 Dear Mayor: [In February, when I first contacted you it was to ask your community's support of a wonderful British Columbia treasure hauged in the Pacific National Exhibition's B.C. Building ~ the Challenger Relief-Map. Our desira was to ancourage the involvement of all British Columbia communities in an exciting, new program at the Pacific National Exhibition. The success of the Pacific National Exhibition's Programs and events are contingent upon the involvemant of the people of our province. Participation of British Columbians is the single most important factor behind the continued success of the annual, provincial! fair ~ and the participation of British Columbians wil! be the key to the success of the Challenger program. In the two short months which have passed, we at the PNE have been overwhelmed by the response to the Map Program wa have received from communities throughout British Columbia. OF the communities contacted, many of you have shown your support by passing motions in Council, by promoting the tours within your awn community, or by providing financia} assistance! Since the reintroduction of the tours, the PNE has welcomed over 400 school childran and 250 adults to the B.C. Building ta view the Challenger Relief Map. And, information forwarded by communities such as yours has been incorporated inte the revised tour so that our visitors naw know that “Spallumcheen and Matsqui will be celabrating centennials in 1992, that the Village of Belcarra will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 1982, and that in 1992 Fort Nelson~Liard Regional District wil! be both hosting the B.C.
