From the City Clerk, May 8th, 1979 concerning the Waterworks City Clerk re Waterworks Reg. | Regulation Amendment By-law, No. 1665 and outlining certain changes that Amend .B/L#1665~— | 3rd rdg. rescind shouid be made in view of comments received from the City Solicitor and ~ Anendment & new 3rd rdg. the report of the City Engineer dated May 3rd, 1979. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the third reading of By-law No. 1665 as given on April 9th, 1979 be rescinded; THAT the said By-law be amended so as to conform with the form of By-law presented by the Clerk to the Council on Monday, May 14th, 1979; AND THAT the said By-law No. 1665, as amended, be read a third time. Prior to the question being called on the above quoted resolution, a discussion ensued concerning the contents of Section 2, clause 26 (a) (v) of the By-law respecting the size of hose permitted and the wording of the clause. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That clause 26(a)(v) of the By-law under consideration be amended by striking the words "and the diameter of such hose shall not exceed 13mm but these provisions shall not apply to any premises upon which are located gardens, lawns, or other forms of landscaping extending over 8,000 square feet in area." and substituting the words "for sprinkling. therefor. Carried. During the discussion it was pointed out that most quality garden hoses are 5/8" in diameter which is in contravention of the By-law as presented. Further discussion ensued concerning the number of persons who should be authorized to enferce the Bylaw provision of shut-off of water supply.
