MEMORANDUM _ OU \ C NOV 2 1:1977 Mayor and Council November 17th, 1977 FROM: = Building and Protection Committee Re: Vehicles for Fire Department The Committee met and discussed acquisition of a vehicle for the new Deputy Fire Chief as well as replacement of the Fire Prevention Officer's vehicle. The Committee recommends the acquisition of a compact car for use by the Deputy Fire Chief. Funds are available in the Operating Budget that ceuld be transferred to permit this capital expenditure prior to the end of the year. Funds are available in view of the fact that the Deputy Fire Chief's position was budgeted for six months and will be filled for only two months. . The small car presentiy being used by the Fire Prevention Officer is due for ‘replacement and has been incurring increased maintenance costs. The Fire Chief has recommended its replacement with a small pick-up truck which can be used for transporting equipment and hose, etc. This replacement would be financed | from the Equipment Fund as the Fire Department have been contributing te the Equipment Replacement Fund by way of rental charges on this vehicle. The Committee recommends the acquisition of these two vehicles out of the 1977. Budget, as outlined. .
