TO: MAYOR and COUNCIL DATE: July 6th, 1973 2 PMR SON tee ee et ie et Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting held on Thursday, July 3th, 1973 at 1:30 P.M. PRESENT: Respectively submitted, Alderman G. Laking, Chairman Vince Borch, P. Eng., City Engineer J. Taylor, Recreation Director ITEM I Removal of playground equipment. Comments: The Parks and Recreation Committee met with a delegation from the row houses in the Mary Hill Area from Una and Tina Rd. The delegation requested-that the playground apparatus situated between Una and Tina Rd. be removed. Apparently neighbourhood children are con- | gregating around the playground area which created quite a noise problem. There were reports that even very late at night there are gatherings around the playground area. Please see attached letter received from the delegation. Recommendation: The Parks and Recreation Committee recommend that the City of Port Coquitlam enter into an agreement with School District #43 to re~ locate the playground equipment on the Hazel Trembath School Grounds. ITEM IT Minor Hockey and Figure Skating Ice Rental Rates. Comments? The Committee reviewed the previous recommendations which were made to Council and wish to make a further recommendation. Realizing that certain hours of the day are not prime hours a sliding scale of rates is recommended. The Committee felt that prime hours were between 9:00 AM - 12:00 Midnight, and the “off hours" were 12:01 AM — 9:00 AM. - cont'd 2
