February 15th, 1972, MEETING ON RAPID TRANSIT - C.P.R. 0 ly i A meeting on Rapid Transit was held on February 15th, 1972. if EB 21 1972 attendance were; Mr. Hilling of the C.P.R., Mayor L.B. Scott, Alderman P.A. Meyer and Mr. K.J. Stinson, Planning Officer. Mayor Scett commenced the discussion at 2:30 p.m. by indicating that the City was seeking a frank exchange of views in order that we might be fully informed about the potential for rapid transportation on the existing C.P.R. tracks. An interesting discussion ensued wherein several points that ‘require factual analysis were identif. ded. These were: ~ potential demand for service, track clearance requirements, scheduling co-orination with freight traffic, connector and other support facilities, financing ~ (a) capital {b) operating type of service, route, car type, etc. It was agreed that any system would have to be studied in concert by all affected parties, and that financial participation by all governmental levels up to Federal would have to be considered, Mr. Hilling stated that the C.P.R, did not have an anti-rapid transit policy, and indicated that his organization would co-operate fully with the interested parties if a study of the points raised above were con- . templated, Mayor Scott closed the meeting by thanking Mr. Hilling for his information and kind offer, and indicated that we would be back in touch in due course, .
