John Murrell’s play Wait- ing for the Parade, will be performed the Remem- brance Day weekend, No- vember 9 to 11 at the R.E.M. Lee Theatre. The play is set in Calgary before the end of World War II. Seniors helping seniors Senior counsellors from throughout the north recently attended a workshop on seniors’ issues in Terrace, Seniors —_ counsellors volunteers aged 65 and over who act as financial advisers, fesource persons, and friends to seniors. “*The service they provide is invaluable,” says Sherry Brooks, financial assistance worker with the ministry of social services, ‘For instance, [can’t tell you as much about pensions as they can.’’ The social services ministry hosts annual training work- shops for counsellors to keep them up to date on seniors’ is- sues, The counsellors program has been in place since the late 70s, and Brooks says the min- istry is very pleased with the results.
