Dawne Kay, 47, alleges she was discriminated against in her ap- plication for the position of city economic development officer. Kay’s complaint comés under Section 8 of the Human Rights Act which prohibits discrimina- tion on the basis of age, sex or re- ligion. Kay specifically alleges the dis- crimination is against her age, family status and religion. Stewart doctor being sued over death of Telkwa logger A STEWART doctor faces a Medical malpractice suit arising from the death of a Telkwa log- ger. Laurel Aslin, an office worker who lives in Telkwa, is suing the doctor who treated her husband, The case against Dr. Larry Otto is scheduled to go to trial next year in Smithers, from April 24 to May 4. Aslin, 24, was pinned between logs for almost seven hours while he was working alone on a log- ging site near Meziadin on Sept. 10, 1992, He was taken to Slewart hospital first and then transferred out. Early the next morning in an ambulance rushing to Terrace the man died of hypothermia. The doctor continues to practice in Stewart and remains in good standing with the B.C. College of Physicians and Surgeons. When contacted, Dr. Otto declined comment, saying the matter has yet to be heard in court. An application to have a jury hear the trial has been challenged by the doctor’s lawyer, said Robert Smith, lawyer for Laurel Aslin.
