In 1989 we were able to address for the first time the added costs of the own forces through the advocacy of a grant under the Revenue Sharing Fund. A greater opportunity is present but it needs your concentrated support. You will recall the province this year reintroduced traffic fines for motor vehicle offences. This will generate millions of dollars in new revenue. This revenue is a direct result of our policing activities; it should not be a windfall to the provincial treasury; and the revenue should be shared with local government. This is the essence of the position taken in 1989 UBCM resolution LR4. If you agree, I urge you to contact the Ministers of Municipal Affairs, Recreation and Culture, Finance and Corporate Relations, and Solicitor General. to express your view that a portion of traffic fine revenue raised in policing municipalities be returned to those municipalities beginning in 1990. Yours truly, Mayor Len Traboula President Dreor-n More: See alse leHee from Aeail Cty, fo bavi 9 an ‘¢ Ccsnn 33 f
