AS per Section 5(1)(c) of the Harbour Commissions Act,
the appointee must be ratified by each municipal Council
and this ratification must occur Within 69 days of the
vacancy Or other provisions of the Act may be invoked.
Also, in order to avoid the involvement of the Minister
of Transport, the nine affected municipalities must be
unanimous in their selection. Therefore, I urge that you

give this matter the earliest possible consideration.

Mayor Gil Blair of Richmond has volunteered to undertake
coordinating the nomination meeting in that he will be in
touch with you.

Please advise the Commission as soon as possible of your
decision regarding the reappointment of Mr. McLaren to
the Fraser River Harbour Commission.
