SUBJECT: Consultants for Change Room in Thompson Park

RECOMMENDATION:

That Council authorize the hiring of Choukalos Woodburn
McKenzie Maranda Ltd., Consulting Engineers, to provide design
and specification services in accordance with their attached
proposal at a fee not to exceed $2,200.

I have requested a proposal from Choukalos Woodburn
McKenzie Maranda Ltd. because they did satisfactory work on the
renovations to the No. 1 Fire Hall two years ago. They have
agreed to review my plans, make any necessary changes, and provide
specifications and then to put their seal on the drawings.

The size of the project is such that it is not worth
going for proposals to a number of Engineers. Since we will be
paying only the hourly rate for the required number of hours to
do the work up to a maximum limit of $2,200, I have no hesitation
in recommending that this firm be hired to do the job.

The firm has agreed to complete the job so that tenders
can be called in February and construction start in March for
completion in early spring.
