| Alderman Ranger December 4th, 1978, Alderman Wright. Alderman Traboulay expressed his appreciation to retiring Alderman M.A. Thompson and the City Staff and also Mrs. Joanne Birnie of the Port Coquitlam Library. jAlderman Keryluk ~ Alderman Keryluk addressed the meeting and expressed congratulations to Alderman Wright and aiso Aldermen Ranger and Traboulay on their re- election to Council. He then expressed his appreciation to retiring Alderman Thompson. Alderman Keryluk then stated for the past two years he has served as Chairman of the Community Development Committee and Co- Chairman of the Leisure Activities Committee. The major objection of the Community Development Committee was to bring together the communities north of the Fraser from Port Moody to Mission and to receive a committment from Victoria on the Mary Hill By-pass. Alderman Keryluk expressed his appreciation to the Industrial Association for their work in this regard and especially to Mr. George Shaw, President of the Industrial Association and Mayor Denny Sharpe of Pitt Meadows for their help in coordinating the two. Regional Meetings that were held in 1978. Alderman Keryluk stated in 1979 there will be extensive improvements te Kingsway as a connector to the Mary Hill By-pass and the Committee has done a considerable amount of work in establishing priorities on the other connectors to the By-pass. Alderman Keryluk then stated some of the things that took Place in 1978 that he was pleased about are as follows: committment from Victoria on the Mary Hill By-pass; the start of the Dyking Program; completion of Prairie Avenue to Shaughnessy Street; $10,000 to the Port Coquitlam Library for books; calling of tenders for the Eagle Ridge Hospital; the first neighbourhood pub on the north side and another in negotiations for the south side; extension of the Senior Citizens Recreation Complex; and establishment of a Teen Disco. Alderman Keryluk then thanked the citizens of Port Coquitlam for attending the Inaugural and stated he will continue working for the citizens in 1979. Alderman Ranger addressed the meeting and then stated that in his opinion Municipal taxes are good value for the dollar. Taxes are approximately $500 for twelve months which is approximately $42 a month. Some of the services the City provides are as follows: storm sewers and ditches to ‘nas carry away the rain water, landscaping, collection and treatment of sewage, fire fighting, build and maintain dykes, City planning, build
