NEW BUSINESS: Alderman Ranger, Chairman of the Leisure Activities Committee, referred to the leakage problem of the indoor pool at the Hyde Creek Centre which is still not repaired, and he advised that as a disagreement has arisen between the City and the contractor on responsibility in regard to the leakage problem, a court action may be impending; however, every effort will be made to have the pool back in operation as soon as possible. Alderman Traboulay referred to a Port Coquitlam resident who could not participate in the swim programme because all the classes were filled — with a number of the persons registered being from outside the City - and Alderman Ranger gave assurance that where non-residents have registered ahead of local residents, the latter still have first preference. Alderman Laking advised that trains are once again blocking traffic at the Pitt River Road-C.P.R. level crossing in the morning rush hour, and he proposed the following motion: Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That a letter be sent to the Canadian Pacific Railway Company again requesting that wherever possible trains clear the Pitt River Road-CPR level crossing prior to 7:00 a.m. in order to avoid blocking the morning rush hour traffic.
