From the Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam, August 16th, 1976, requesting Kinsmen Club re road sign-: permission to erect a road sign six feet high, thirty inches in diameter, City entrance | ~Pitt R.Road displaying the Kinsmen Crest and meeting place of the Club, on Pitt River Road at the entrance to Port Coquitlam. A discussion ensued, and Alderman Laking pointed out that the Council had rejected similar requests received from other organizations, and stated he felt signs placed at the entrances to the City should have space thereon for listing all the local service clubs and churches and their meeting dates. Alderman Mabbett stated that a recent request from the Legion to erect a directional sign was referred back to that organization for possible revision as a 'group' sign. Alderman Traboulay referred to the removal, due to rental costs, of the previous Information Sign on the Lougheed Highway, which had local service clubs listed thereon, and he pointed out that at that time 1t was recommended that the City's own Sign Department construct a similar one and install it on that site.
