C. | Dear Mr. Pollock: Re: Consolidation of City and District Fire Departments ; 1 At the regular meeting of the Council of the District of Coquitlam held October 15th, 1973, the following resolutions were adopted: "That the Minutes of the Joint Meeting of Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam re Fire Hall Site N.E. Coquitlam of October 2, 1973 be received." "That these Councils proceed immediately with agreement in principle to consolidate the Fire services of Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam and further that we instruct our Administrative staffs to begin work immediately toward the solving of technical details and problems to bring about a satisfactory agreement for both Municipalities and their employees, and further that this agreement be placed before both Councils for approval on or before January Ist, 1973, and further that it is understood that there will be ns loss of wages to present Fire Department employees as a result of consolidation." The District Council enthusiastically adopted the above consolidation agreement as stated and asked its staff to take early action and co-operate in every way possible in meeting the January Ist deadline set and expression of the hope that earlier agreement may be reached was voiced.
