CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE meeting of the Parks & Recreation Committee was held in Council Chambers on Wednesday, July 9th, 1986, at 3:45 p.m.the In attendance were Alderman George Laking and Alderman Mike Farnworth. Also in attendance were Alderman Mike Gates and K. Janna Taylor, Parks & Recreation Director. A CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES That the minutes of the meeting of the Parks & Recreation Committee, held on wednesday, June 18th, 1986, be taken as read and adopted. Item No. 1 Oilina Parkina Lots The attached memorandum from the Parks Superintendent was discussed by the Committee. It was decided that, due to the fact that it was half way through the summer, we would not do the parking lots of the other parks, except for Lions Park. Recommendation: That Lions Park parkina lot be oiled. CARRIED Item No. 2 PoCo Trail Under Kincswav Bridce The Committee discussed the attached memorandum from the Engineer, in which he outlines that presently his staff would be unable to do the work under the Kingsway Bridge due to the fact that they are extremely busy. Recommendation. That we do not fix the PoCo Trail underr.eath the Kingsway Bridge until 1987 and that this be included in the 1987 Provisional Budget. CARRIED /2 Item No. 3 Citadel Place Sub-Division Janna introduced the Citadel Place sub-division plan in which we have been asked to maintain the boulevard area and the entrance sign. It was suggested that we do this in a similar manner as we did with the other sub-divison for Harbour ~1iew Estates. Recommendations: 1. 2. That the Parks & Recreation Department maintain the entrance sign to Citadel Place and the boulevard area. That the boulevard be grassed and that only a few shrubs, such as rhododendrons be permit- ted CARRIED Item No. 4 Weed Cont ol It was brought to the attention of the Committee that a report will be coming to the Committee in regard to weed control and that the Committee would have to address the possible chemical use due to the fact that weeds are taking over in our bedding areas. However, we will wait for the report to come. It was also agreed that the report should be sent to the Environmental Committee for discussion. Recommendation: That the verbal report be received.
