Another Christmas season has come and gone. | hope that all was well with every- one. The Made of Clay experience was great for me, We had no huge catastro- phes. The attendance was slightly lower than last year as was the numberof exhibi- tors. Part of this was due to the fact that the last weekend of November was the same as the first in December, This meant that events such as the Eastside Culture Crawl and a few other craft sales were all on the same weekend, By the time any one no- ticed, the balls had all been booked and the advertising started. The world's events also put an uneasy feeling into predicting Sales, All in all we did fairly well. Our altendance was just under $00, about the same as 1999. We had several new exhibitors this year. Most from previous years said that their sales were up; a few were down and one said that their sales were down every where, At the time of this report I wm waiting for afew final reports, but it seems that we are maintaining our average sales, Made of Clay Report The bad news was that we did nol repre- semt as wide a selection of clay artists asin the past, Next year we will beable to watch forthe scheduling conflicts and avoid them. The more presenters we have the more resources we have for the public. The gooxd news is that we added 350 peo- ple to the mailing list and there was no credit card fraud this year, We are building an excellent mupport with the staff at the Roundhouse and the Yaletown commu- nity is starting to know us, The venue is proving to be a fabulous exhibiting place with presenters commenting on it. Next year we will be able to draw even more customers now that we have the extended mailing list and an insight into who is in the neighborhood. Any one who would like a full breakdown of the detailed numbers can contact me and I will send them out. Right now there are still some details pending but by the time you read this all the Last details should have shown up. The spring show is mext! If any one has advice on advertising for this show, please contact me, We can add it to our already existing information and make this better. I'd like to thank everyone who was in- volved. I was not completely sure what | was getting myself into when I agreed to organize this sabe but everyone made me feel at case and I am glad that my past experiences paid off. | am so glad to have met all the presenters and this has become my reward for doing this. I look forward to the spring show and all the potters who do that show exclusively. There is no reason that we cannot generate a long and lasting tradition of respect for ceramic art in the general public.
