There were 44 missed flights in January and another 22 in February, according to stats Kept by the Northwest Regional Airport. That's more than double the number of flights missed in the same months of 2001. Fully a third of the missed flights so far this year ~ 22 ~ are listed as having missed due to mechanical or other reasons, with the other two-thirds blamed on weather. And 2001 was worse than the previous year, the stats show. Last year a total of 139 missed flights were recor- ded, compared to 72 in 2000. The number missed due ta mechanical or other climbed from four in 2000 to 34 in 2001, in part because of several days of cancelled flights after the Sept. 11 ter- ror attacks. The year-end stats show 95,814 air travellers used the © airport last year. That’s up from nearly eight per cent from the previous year.
