ay WL WLLL Tee WORLD SCENE FBI HOOVER ON NEW WITCH HUNT WASHINGTON — It is as lurd as a television spy tale to hear FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover tell a Congressional committee blood- curdling stories of wicked conspiracies when appropriation time arrives. Hoover appeared before a House committee to request an additional $14.1 million to pay the salaries of 1,000 additional agents and 702 clerks. Hoover described an “East Coast Conspiracy to Save Lives,” composed of Roman Catholic priests, nuns, teachers and students who are, he claims, opposed to the U.S. aggression in Indochina. Hoover claims the group is preparing “to kidnap a highly placed governmental official” to back demands for an end of U.S. bomb- ings in Indochina. He claimed that two brothers, both Roman - Catholic priests and serving time in jail. Philip and Daniel Berrigan, are associated with the group. This was indignantly denied by them. The movement to free Angela Davis has taken on world-wide scale. (The CP of Canada has urged Canadian democrats to join in the protest.) CONTINUE PERSECUTION OF KENT STUDENTS CLEVELAND — USS.
