BACKGROUND: The draft Accessory Home Business Bylaw was recently forwarded by the Economic Development Committee to the Chamber of Commerce for review and — comment. Copies were also made available for public perusal at Terry Fox Library. The Chamber of Commerce has provided comments, and letters from the public have also been received. COMMENTS RECEIVED TO DATE: The following table summarizes the letters and comments received about the draft Bylaw. Should permit music teachers and tutors 6 Should permit a limited number of non- resident employees in a home business Should permit a sign to be displayed Should permit a home business where there is a daycare, if they are compatible Should limit number of cars visiting a house on business 1 A petition with 31 signatures was also received that appears to support an increase in uses permitted as home businesses. Since the wording of the petition was incomprehensible, several of the persons who signed the petition ‘were contacted. They advised staff that they signed the petition simply to support a music teacher who wanted to teach from her home. DISCUSSION: The Planning Department has reviewed the feedback on the draft Bylaw.
