Re: Zamboni Ice Machine

Reference is made to the Council Resolution of October 18th, 1976,
"That as recommended by the City Administrator October 7th, 1976,
tenders be called for the replacement of the Zamboni Ice Machine....
and that funds for the purchases be taken from the Machine and
Equipment Reserve Fund". The Purchasing Agent has called tenders and
the following bids have been received. :

Rollins Machinery Limited -Model TMA Zamboni Ice
Resurfacer, mounted on
a Ford Model 2600 tractor

$13,382.46 - all taxes incl.

S.M.I. Industries Limited Model HDB Zamboni Ice
Resurfacer

$23,518.60 - all taxes incl.

The latter quotation is for a machine similar to the one presently
operated by the City. The first quotation, while considerably less
expensive than the other, does not meet our requirements with respect
to snow capacity and water capacity and would not be suitable for

our two ice surface operation.

‘The Committee recommends that the quotation from S.M.I. Industries
Limited be accepted at their quoted price. It should also be pointed
out that once the machine arrives a few hundred dollars further
expenditure will be required to convert the engine to the use of
propane fuel.
