The pianists who will be per- forming are all adults who wanted a chance to perform in a non-competitive atmosphere. Tra- ditionally, these performances were.at the end of each division, but this year the adults have been given their own two nights. “Putting an advanced group like this together in their own evening creates a comfortable at- mosphere,”’ says Marylia Davies, ‘of the Northwest Academy of ‘Performing Arts, ‘‘It creates a good learning atmosphere and also treats the audience to a very high level of music ... It could be a very popular cvening.’’ The adult non-competitive per- formances are Friday, March 31, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Pentecos- tal Church and Monday, April 3, from 7 io 10 p.m. Other highlights at this year’s festival include a scholarship night, April 7, and a gala evening of entertainment, April 8. Tickets for both events are available at Erwin’s Jewellers. The Pacific Northwest Music Festival runs from Marck 27 to April 8. Programs are. available at Sight and Sound in Terrace, Prince Rupert and Kitimat. : ‘SMART BRITISH COLUMBIANS. ARE SAYING... = 7 G3 Z am ORIVER.
