~e The recommended site for the playground is at the west end of Nacht Avenue. The size of the site is 66' X 91' and the City Engineer has indicated that there is no problem with using the road allowance for the park as the road will not be used for an entrance to the Indian Reserve, (Plan 1), Furthermore, the use of this area will not hinder the development of the City owned land for future subdivisions, as noted in the attached concept plan. The City Planner has confirmed that the lots originally proposed to front onto this section of Nacht Avenue will be tumed to front onto McChesaney Street. The Parks and Recreation Committee supports the concept of providing a small playground on the road allowance. However, at this time, we are not recommending an additional area for the sport court as outlined in the attached report from the Head Gardener. The cost of the tot lot without the sport court is $42,876.06, In order to use Park DCC interest to develop this park area, it will be necessary to do a Highway Exchange Bylaw under Section $74, through which the City would exchange other land to the Province for highway purposes and take title to the portion of unopened highway allowance. This exchange could be accommodated in the adjacent City owned land to the north of Nacht Avenue (Plan 2) mn be wn It is anticipated to start construction, as quickly as possible, so that the residents will have this playground equipment available to them by late summer.
