| am writing in hope that at the upcoming meeting on Nov.3,1993 concerning the
<OMMUNITY PLAN, that you would be in agreement regarding changing the status of
the 2200 block of Pitt River Road (Southside between Mary. Hill Road and Shaughnessy).
We wish to change the status from residential to apartment zoning. Our reascns are
as follows;

1. houses on the block are between 25 & 80 years old, some in poor repair

2. Pitt River Road is a main thoroughfare with good acess to the Mary Hill by-pass and
Lougheed Highway

3. apartn: ats are being built ou the North comer of Shaughnessy and Pitt River. There
are also apartments on the comer of Mary Hill Road and Pitt River Road

4. Port Coquitiam is growing and in need of more affordable high density homes; putting
them on a main thoroughfare seems more practical than putting them on side streets

5. 90% of the residents concerned are in favour of this change

There is concern about a buffer zone, it should be noted that there is an alley
between Pitt River Road and Lobb Avenue. This buffer is also enhanced by 50 large trees
on Lobb Avenue. It should also be noted that the homes on Lobb Avenue are becoming
older and this area will likely be suitable for multiple-family housing in the future.

Myself and other residents of Pitt River Road have taken up a petition and have
approximately 200 hundred signatures of people living in the surrounding neighbourhood
who have no objections to our request. We feel that this is a prime location for apartment
development and a good thing for Port Coquitlam.
