Carried. DELEGATION: His Worship LL.M. Traboulay introduced a member of the B.C. Government Emuployees' Union who spoke regarding the effects of Privatization on local communities. Moved by Aiderman Gates: Seconded by Alderman Farnworth: WHEREAS all evidence to date indicates the cost of highway maintenance would increase through privatization; and WHEREAS evidence shows service as well as safety will be comprised through privatization; and WHEREAS he economic impact of privatization on highways has not been t properly analyzed or researched; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the municipality of Port Coquitlan communicate directly with the Provincial Government and, through the Union of B.C. Municipalities, request that privatization of highways be put on hold pending a comprehensive review of the impact, with an opportunity for input from the communities affected. Carried. BYLAWS: Moved by Alderman Farnworth: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the "Council Indemnity (1988 and 1989) Bylaw, 1988 No. 2341" be reconsidered, finally passed and adopted. Carried.
