Kirk, June 17, 1955 City Administrator Wm Brown, Director of Planning SUBJECT: Application for non-farm use of ALR lands RECOMMENDATION: That City Council forward the subiect application to the Provincial Agricultural Land Commission without recommendation, COMMENTS : 1. It should be noted this application is to use land for a non-farming purpose, it does not request exclusion of the land from provisions of the agricultural reserve. Improvements that will be carried out as part of the proposal include perimeter fencing and lights; a tee shelter for golfers, and parking. Other than the building and parking lot the remainder of the site will be maintained as a rough pasture (without animals). Council may wish to know that the provincial Agricultura] Land Commission have given favourable reception to’similar proposals elsewhere. The rationale extended for that is the minimal building and disruption of the land involved for a golf driving range. No recommendation is being put forward about the acceptability of this proposal in a farm area. The provincial Agricultural Land Commission have had considerable experience in dealing with similar proposals elsewnere and have developed criteria for assessing impact of such proposals on the surrounding farmland. wm Director of Planning WB/sgg eee TN re ee erin a
