THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM . MAR 12 C | L | TO: ' B. Kirk, March 2, 1984 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters., Po. Enge,. City Engineer SUBJECT: Underground Service to Evangelical Free Church - Works and Services Committee, February 28th, 1984 RECOMMENDATION: That the Evangelical Free Church not be exempted from our policy of underground wiring for new buildings. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: A letter had been received from the Evangelical Free Church requesting that thelr new bullding on Flint Street be exempted from the policy of underground wiring because of the extra cost of $1,509 to put the wiring underground. This policy has been appitied consistently for all new buildings in the City except where such underground service Is Impractical or, In the case of the example givan by the church, where the City slipped up. The Committee believes that the policy is a good one. It removes unsightly wires from the landscape, reduces the problem of accidental damage to overhead wiring, and provides for future changes to underground servicing along the street. The Committee was not prepared to start making exceptions to this policy and therefore recommends that the request be denied. A F.E. Peters, Pe ENGer,—™. City Engineer FEP/sgg R24
