Re: Gately Strect Drainage

Mr. John Munroe, owner of the industrial warehouse at
the corner of Gately Street and Kingway Avenue, was present to
discuss a drainage problem on his street. There is a catch
basin lead which discharges at the north-east corner of the
property end drains across the front of his property in an open
stream, The road is also in very poor condition. These con-
ditions make the building unattractive for tenants.

At the time of construction of this building we were
unable to obtain tha storm sewer or roadworks from the builder
due to the Court Order requiring us to issue a building permit.
Otherwise, there is no doubt that these conditions would have
been taken care of as a requirement of the development.

Mr. Munroe t.as indicated that he would be prepared ts
contribute a certain amount to the cost of upgrading in proportion
to his contribution to the problem. However, with that approach
it would be necessary for the City to provide funds in its budget
for its share of the work. Alternatively, Mr. Munroe has made an
application for rezoning to make his building conforming and as
part of the rezoning requirements we would be working out the
costs for providing adequate standards of service. Mr. Munroc
was told that his problem would be discussed by Council in con~
junction with his rezoning application.
