We have looked at: many ways to create lower cost homes; however, supply and demand and control by larger developers has kept even the 33 foot lots at far too high a cost, in my estimation. As you are aware, the Housing Committee is working on the possibility of a pilot project of some eighteen 33 foot lots. , . The City Administrator is arranging a meeting in the next 10 days with the Provincial people (Dunhil2) so that we can look further into the ways and means of developing this small group of lots. The Editorial in the Vancouver Sun points out the folly of the report by developer Mr. Bawlf very well. He tries pitifully to let the developer off the hook and wants really to tag a large amount of blame on the municipalities. If. the report warrants the Housing Committee really studying it, I am sure we would be prepared to do so, however, until the Senior levels of Government come up with some better ways of grants or funding in order to get on with the job of affordable housing, I think we are wasting our time.
