REPORT NOV 26 1973: DATE: November 23, 1973 TO: Mayor and Council FROM: Planning and Zoning Committee The Planning and Zoning Committee met on Wednesday, November 21st. Present were Chairman Alderman Ranger, Alderman Thompson, V.G, Borch, P.Eng.:, N, Chernoff, J. Buchan and L.D. Pollock of the City staff. 1. Application for Rezoning No. R18~-73 This application is a request to rezone a parcel of land at 780 Prairie Road from A-1 Agricultural to RS-1 Single Family Residential to permit a subdivision of the property into three lots for residential construction. This property is in the area subjected to the farm land freeze however it is less than two acres and is therefore not affected by the freeze. The property is, however, in the floodplain and rezoning could not be affected without approval of the Department of Municipal Affairs. be approved due to the fact that it is floodplain lands. All the surrounding lands location. The Committee therefore recommends that the application not be approved. 2. Application for Rezoning No. R19-73 This is a request to rezone a 60 foot lot at 1542 Prairie Road from RS~1 Single Family to C-2 Commercial to permit construction of ‘a building to be used as a dental laboratory. This property is slated for future comercial development in Phase ITI of our north side phasing policy and there are still some Phase I lands yet to be developed. at that intersectioa and further resolved when construction takes place on the large parcel south of Prairie and east of Coast Meridian which is presumably ‘slated for development by the Regional District Housing Authority. The Committee feels that the plans of the Regionai District should be determined before further commercial construction is permitted in this area, For the foregoing reasons the Committee recommends that the application not be accepted. oee/2
