Pollock, City Administrator - Remuneration of Election Personnel Mr. Freeman is presently arranging personnel for the annual elections in December and we have been reviewing the remuneration paid to these personnel. . There are four particular categories: the Returning Officer, the Deputy Returning Officer, Poll Clerk and Counters. The first three categories of ‘personnel mentioned. above are on duty for the full day which consists of approximately fifteen hours or more. The Counters come in after the polls close and work for two or three hours to assist with the count. The rates paid to each of these categories at the present time are as follows: Returning Officer ~$50.00 Deputy Returning Officer - 35.00 Poll Clerk - 25.00 Counter - 7.50 The Returning Officer and Deputy Returning Officers' rates have been the same since 1968. The Poll Clerk and Counter were increased in 1971. (They were previously paid $20. and $5, respectively). We have attempted to determine the ‘going rate for these positions by reference to a publication put. out by the Union of B.C. Municipalities on this subject. However, there is such a variety of rates paid that it is impossible to establish anything that could be called uniform with other municipalities. At the present time the following rates are in effect in. the two adjacent municipalities, Deputy Returning Returning Poll Officer Officer Clerk District of Coquitlam "$150.00 $48.00 $28.00. Port.
