INTER OFFICE MEMO Mayor and.Aldermen DATE: August 31st, 1972 R.A. Freeman, City Clerk C.c. A { AE wae Re: Registration of Resident- ~Electors SEP 11 1972 As Counci} is aware, during 1970 and particularly in.1971 the City embarked on ex- “tensive « campaigns to register as many Resident-Electors as possible. As a result of “the city! 8 efforts, we last year registered 529 Resident-Electors and in accordance “with the usual practice we have this year forwarded confirmation forms to these people and. 187 have been returned and these people will thus be placed on the List of Electors. ae Additionally, 56 forms were returned by the Post Office as being undeliverable. Due to the fairly good registration we already have this year as a carry-over from - Yegistration campaigns in the past, might we suggest that our registration efforts be . - Limited this year to three procedures. Pirstly, that we distribute a leaflet urging Resident-Electors to register throughout the major apartment buildings in the City. ". Secondly, that we ask the major supermarkets in the City to distribute a leaflet for us urging Resident-Electors to register. Thirdly, that the City Hall remain open until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29th and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 30th.
