C -P The Committee discussed the presentation from CanPac Energy Consultants and wished to take the report to Council and invite to attend the next Council meeting with Can-Pac a presentation. That the Parks Recreation Department enter into a contract &with Can-Pac Energy Consultants to install their system under their 75/25 sharing plan. t CARRZRP:. M . P* Mrs . Vernon wrote the departr..ent a letter in which she complained about the registration and also complained, about the fact thatinweaquatics did not have enough facilities in our community . Continued. JUL25 19 Recommendation That a letter be sent to Mrs. Ve:non indicating that we are hopefully coing to enter into a feasibility study of the Hyde Creek Centre to find out whether our facilities are adequate. CARRIED Item No. 3 Letter from Amos Judy Poel The Committee discussed the piece of property that Mr. a Mrs. Poel they would sell to the City if we wereindicated interested a park in this area. Janna Taylor indicated inthat do, indeed, need parkland in this particularwearea; however, it was felt that, at this time, the parkland in question should be left until they sold their properties and that when a plan for houses for this area is presented to the City, the 5% parkland be part of the requirement for the sub-division. The Committee also discussed the aspect of having a waterfront park southof the Mary Hill By-Pass area. It was agreed that this should be looked at at a later date. & Recommendation That a letter be sent to Amos and Judy Poel that the Committee not interested at this time in their piece of isproperty. CARRIED Item No. 4 Feasibility Study The Committee was presented with Terms of Reference for a feasibility study of Wilson Centre and Hyde Creek Centre. Janna requested that the aldermen take some Taylor time to look over this reference material and come back with recommendations for additions or deletions. Recommendation That the report be received. It was discussed that many residents have b e briinging their concerns to the various regarding inadequate aquafits at the aldermen outdoor, pools during the summer Janna Taylor indicated that over the months. past years, it has been generally agreed that the summer aquatics would be dedicated to the use of Port Coquitlam'youth. It should also be noted 'am ha, 1 arge amount of time at that the swim te'am as, a both Centennial and Robert Hope Pools. We presently have four aquafits at Centennial Pool, two at noon hour, one after work on Monday and one after work on Friday. SrJB JECT: Feasibility Study Janna Taylor, Parks & Pecreation Director Creek Centre The Port Coquitlam Parks & — — Wilson Certre & Fyde Terms of Reference Recreation Department have identified the three areas that require feasibility studies in the following year. The areas identified are the present Wilson Centre, Hyde Creek Indoor Pool and the Reeve Street Park Area. Wilson Centre— original centre was opened in 1975 and was expanded in 1979. The square footage of the centre is approximately 3500 square feet. It presently has one large meeting area which has a dividing wall, a crafts room with a divider, a pool room, small meeting room, kitchen, office and storage area. The The Parks & Recreation Department wishes to have a feasibility study on the above centre. Terms of reference: a) Work in conjunction with the Wilson Centre Advisory Committee b) Identify if there is a need for expansion If expansion is required, the following information is needed: i) Facilities required ii) Size of facilities iii) Locations of facilities iv) v) Estimated cost o'f expansion in 1985 and 1986 dollars Should it be a multi use facility or separate facility JU for those 50 and over. continued. vi) vpe of programming requirements in the next five to ten years. Hyde Creek Recreation Centre The centre was opened in 1975 and contains an indoor swimming pool. The pool is 25 meters with six lanes. It has a one meter diving board.
