It is hoped that it will be during the time Habitat '76 is here in May. There will be people here from all over the world so just think of all the exposure your pots would get! We will want to make a good impression so please save that masterpiece, Stan Clarke is our Provincial representative to the New Canadian Guild of Potters which is being organized, and attended their first meeting some time ago. Nancy Star got a brief report from him before our meeting in June. They felt that there is need for a National Guild for professional potters, The former Canadian Guild of Potters, which had its headquarters in Toronto for many years, will now become the Ontario Guild of Potters. Possibly Stan will be able to give us @ more complete report at a later date. We are greatly indebted to him for representing B, C. Many thanks Stan. There are several summer schools of Art offering classes in many Arts and Crafts. The Shawnigan Summer School of the Arts: July 28th to August 28th. Wayne Ngan, well known to us all, will be the pottery instructor. This year classes will be held at St. Michael's University School in Victoria. For information call 681-6812. July 22nd to August 9th. Canada's Western Potters and Ceramists: plus prints by Arnold Shires at the Burnaby Art Gallery, 6344 Gilpin, Burnaby. August 6th to 31st, Vancouver International Stone Sculpture Symposium: during July and August at the Van Dusen Botanical Gardens, 37th and Oak Street, Vancouver, Twelve sculptors selected from all over the world, giving us an opportunity to see the creation of sculptures of monumental proportions. . AND did you notice that insert saying the Plains- man Clay will pick up half the cost of a workshop? Has anyone written for details ~- it sounds. almost too good to be true? Our new Executive was elected at the Annual Meeting in May. Nancy Star is our new Chairman, Many thanks to Gordon Thorlaksson for piloting us through a very difficult year.
