Eastern Drive Park Sport Court
(Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting July 26, 1994)

That fencing and basketball hoops be installed at the asphalt area adjacent
to the Eastem Drive Tennis. Courts. |

That the estimated cost of $8,026 for fencing and basketball hoops be taken
from park DCC interest. | |

The Parks & Recreation Committee has, over the last few rnonths, been discussing the issue
of providing sport courts on parks wherever possible. At Eastern Drive Park there

. currently exists an asphalt surface south of the existing tennis courts. The Committee is
recommending that two playing surfaces of 55' x 50' be created with basketball hoops.

- By providing the fencing and the basketball hoops and markings for hockey, it is hoped that
young people will utilize this area, rather than the existing tennis courts. Currently the
tennis nets are constantly being slashed so that the young people can play hockey. ;

The estimated cost of $8,026 can be taken from park DCC interest. Attached is the
